Federico Mencaroni Vini

For fourth generation winemaker Federico Mencaroni the decision to work on the land and cultivate his vines is based on pride, his passion for the area he lives and a love for wine. Over time the artistry of winemaking and his connection with the land that his Uncle Nevio passed on to him developed into technical skill and a very qualified approach as a winemaker. Federico's passion, technique, research and experience blend into each glass of his wine, a simple outcome embodying the essence of the territory and this winemaker. This essence has translated into crisp, fresh sparkling wines made from the ancient Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi grape that can rival a fine glass of champagne.

Le Marche Region

Le Marche, which hugs the eastern edge of Italy has various terroirs suitable for wine cultivation. The influence of the Adriatic Sea, Apennines Mountains and the region's various rivers give way to a myriad of climates from Mediterranean to Continental in a relatively small region. Soil rich in calcareous, clay and limestone have proven to be excellent for varieties such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Verdicchio and Montepulciano. Le Marche has been referred to as "the New Tuscany", even though it has it's own rich history of wine that has been cultivated here as far back as Etruscan times.

"Oenological techniques need to be constantly adjusted according to the raw material, in this case grapes, because every year they are unique and different. Thus we are subject to a fortune we will know only at vintage."

Great care is taken in the production process, which is obvious after tasing theses wines. After being hand harvested the grapes that will become Vini Federico Mencaroni are carefully grouped to follow different winemaking processes which include still and traditional method sparkling.
